Never quite leaving behind his undergraduate years as an English major, James O. Wheeler remained an avid student of the English language and literature all of his days. A volume of sonnets or romantic poetry was never far from his reading chair, and family holiday gatherings often included impromptu readings of favorite poems--both serious and humorous.
